Pay Scale:

Level-3 (₹21,700 – ₹69,100) in the Pay Matrix along with applicable Central Government allowances.

  • Special Security Allowance: 20% of basic pay in addition to other government allowances.
  • Holiday Compensation: Eligible for cash compensation in lieu of duty on holidays (up to 30 days max).

Essential Qualifications:

  • 10th Class Pass (Matriculation) or equivalent from a recognized Board.
  • Domicile certificate of the state applied for.
  • Knowledge of one local language/dialect as specified for each Subsidiary Intelligence Bureau (SIB).

Desirable Qualification:

Field experience in intelligence work will be considered an added advantage.

Age Limit (as on 17 August 2025):

  • Minimum: 18 years
  • Maximum: 27 years

  • OBC: 3 years

Important Instructions for IB Security Assistant/Executive Recruitment 2025

PwBD Candidates Not Eligible

The post of Security Assistant/Executive is not identified as suitable for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD). Such candidates are advised not to apply.

Vacancies May Change

The total number of vacancies announced is provisional and may be revised by the authority based on requirements.

Eligibility Cut-Off Date

All eligibility criteria, including age, qualification, and category status, will be determined as of the last application date, i.e., 17th August 2025. The candidate must have passed the required qualification by this date.

Reservation Rules Apply

Reservation for SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and Ex-Servicemen (ESM) will be as per Government rules. If suitable ESM candidates are not available, those positions may be filled by non-ESM candidates of the same category.

Restriction on Re-employed ESM

ESM candidates already employed in a Group ‘C’ post in the Central Government after availing ESM reservation are not eligible for fee concessions or reservation benefits again. However, age relaxation can still be availed.

Documents for Defence Personnel

Serving defence personnel must submit a certificate as per Appendix-4 if due for discharge. All ESM candidates must also submit an undertaking as per Appendix-5 when asked.

Final Selection Process

The final merit list will be prepared based on combined performance in Tier-I and Tier-III examinations. A waiting list will also be maintained for future recruitment needs.

Right to Make Changes

The Intelligence Bureau reserves the right to make corrections or updates to the recruitment process as per Government of India instructions, if necessary.

Knowledge of Local Language/Dialect

Candidates must have knowledge of at least one local language/dialect relevant to the SIB (Subsidiary Intelligence Bureau) they are applying for. They should be able to read, write, and speak that language/dialect.

Service Liability

This post carries an All India Transfer liability. Only candidates willing to work anywhere in India should apply.

Scheme of Examination – IB Security Assistant/Executive 2025

Tier-I: Online Objective Exam

  • Type: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
  • Total Marks: 100
  • Time Duration: 1 hour
  • Sections (20 questions of 1 mark each):
    • a) General Awareness
    • b) Quantitative Aptitude
    • c) Numerical/Analytical/Logical Ability and Reasoning
    • d) English Language
    • e) General Studies
  • Negative Marking: 0.25 mark deducted for each incorrect answer.

Tier-II: Descriptive Written Exam

  • Type: Descriptive
  • Total Marks: 50
  • Time Duration: 1 hour
  • Description: Translation of a passage of 500 words from local language/dialect to English and vice versa.

Tier-III: Interview / Personality Test

  • Total Marks: 50
  • Time Duration: 1 hour

Selection Process and Criteria for Final Appointment

  1. Tier-I Exam: Candidates will appear for Tier-I at one of the five preferred cities allotted to them. This test includes negative marking — 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. No marks will be awarded for unattempted questions or those marked as “Mark for Review.”
  2. Tier-I Cut-Off Marks: To ensure a high standard of selection, candidates must achieve the following minimum marks out of 100:
    • UR/EWS: 30
    • OBC: 28
    • SC/ST: 25

    Note: Ex-servicemen will be considered in their respective category (UR/OBC/SC/ST/EWS).

  3. Shortlisting for Tier-II: Candidates who meet the Tier-I cut-off will be shortlisted for Tier-II at a ratio of 1:10 (10 times the number of available vacancies). Shortlisting will be based on normalized scores.
  4. Tier-I Cut-off Flexibility: Actual cut-off marks for each category may be higher depending on the number of candidates and their scores.
  5. Tier-II Exam (Qualifying): This stage is qualifying in nature. Candidates must secure at least 20 marks out of 50 to move to the next round.
  6. Shortlisting for Tier-III/Interview: Based on Tier-I performance and Tier-II qualification, candidates will be shortlisted at a ratio of 1:5 (five times the number of vacancies).
  7. Final Merit List: Selection for the post of SA/Executive will be based on combined performance in Tier-I and Tier-III. A waiting list will also be maintained in accordance with DoP&T guidelines.
  8. Final Appointment Requirements: Selected candidates must successfully complete Character & Antecedent Verification and a Medical Examination before appointment.
  9. Temporary Appointment: Initial appointment will be temporary. Confirmation as a permanent employee will depend on the rules in force at the time of appointment.
  10. Exam Conduct Guidelines: Candidates must strictly follow the instructions provided in the admit card/call letters for all tiers regarding entry, behavior, and security protocols. Non-compliance may lead to cancellation of candidature.

Important Guidelines for Centre Selection & Exam Conduct

  • Choose Examination Centre Wisely: Applicants must select their preferred SIB (Subsidiary Intelligence Bureau) and examination city with caution. Once submitted, no changes will be allowed under any circumstances.
  • Centre Allocation for Tier-I: While candidates can choose five cities as preferences, the exam centre will be assigned based on availability. Final selection consideration will only be based on the chosen SIB.
  • Shift & Centre Management: Depending on the number of applicants, the Tier-I exam may be conducted in multiple shifts or centres.
  • Centre Changes by Authority: In the case of overcrowding or low turnout at any selected city, the examination body may shift candidates to another nearby location.
  • Centre Cancellation Rights: The Intelligence Bureau holds the right to add or cancel any exam centre and reassign applicants to other cities based on logistical convenience.
  • Notification of Tier-II & III: Shortlisted candidates will be informed via their registered email about the date, time, and venue of Tier-II and Tier-III (Interview) stages.
  • Centralized Exams for Later Stages: Tier-II and Tier-III exams may not be held in all cities listed earlier. The department may club candidates to conduct these rounds in selected centres only.

Applications should be submitted only through ONLINE registration by logging on to MHA’s website (www.mha.gov.in) or NCS portal (www.ncs.gov.in) only. Applications will NOT be accepted through any other mode.

How to Apply

  • Candidates must have a valid personal email ID and mobile number for all future communications.
  • Ensure accuracy while filling the application. You can edit before submitting Step-I and Step-II, but not after final submission.
  • Step-I: Register personal & contact details. Login credentials will be sent to your registered email.
  • Step-II: Log in to complete the form – select category, fill in personal/qualification details, upload photo/signature, and pay applicable fee via SBI EPAY LITE.
  • Photograph should be 35x45mm, color, light background, 70–80% face visible, jpg/jpeg format, 100–200KB.
  • Signature on white paper with black ink only, jpg/jpeg format, 80–150KB.
  • After submission, you'll be redirected to SBI payment gateway to pay: ₹550 for all, +₹100 exam fee for UR/OBC/EWS males.
  • E-challan (if generated) valid for 4 days; submit in bank before 19.08.2025.
  • Keep a printout of the filled application and payment receipt for reference.
  • Submit only ONE application. Multiple submissions will lead to cancellation.
  • Ensure photo/signature are clear. Blurry images may result in rejection.
  • All updates including admit cards will be sent via registered email only.

Examination Fee & Mode of Payment

Examination Fee:
It consists of 02 components: Examination Fee: ₹100/- (Rupees Hundred only) & Recruitment Processing Charges: ₹550/- to be paid as under:
